Directors Message

                Two and a half years ago, my daughter Christina was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. As one can imagine, it has been a difficult time for my family but we were truly blessed, in so many ways. Christina found from within herself a strength that carried all of us through this fight. Knowing full well what her condition was, she chose to face life on her terms and live each day to the fullest.  Through grueling treatments and constant setbacks, she remained focused and dedicated to her studies.  Thanks to the commitment and professionalism of some of the most dedicated staff of the Lindenhurst School District, she was able to achieve some personal goals she had set for herself.   I, personally, cannot thank them enough for the support they gave her at a very difficult and challenging time; and I truly believe they will never know the difference they made.  I find it ironic that Christina was the one who challenged us each day, to push on.  She never complained or asked, "Why me"? Christina lived her life with a dignity and grace that far surpassed her years. She has given all who knew her that special gift, which can only be given, by example of ones' own life. I have been told that she has touched the lives of those who knew her.  I believe that, as I know we were truly blessed to have had her with us for 16 years.  We were also blessed by the kind words and prayers extended to us by the members of our community.  The outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming.  I want to thank you all, for you are the reason that Lindenhurst is so special. 

     At this time, I am proud to report that the Christina Renna Foundation has raised nearly $22,000.00 to date.  We will be establishing a scholarship in her name and will be continuing the fight against cancer.  If you would like to follow our progress, or find out about upcoming fundraisers, please continue to visit our website.

    On a final note, Christina ran the race of her life against cancer; and by example, showed that each of us can affect the world by the single life we live!   On behalf of my family, our sincerest thanks to you all.
